Gourmet on Fire!!!! Island that is... - The Gay Gourmet!™

Things are changing and it looks like for the good on Fire Island! I recently received word, from one of my fabulous Gourmet sources, that the infamous Blue Whale is getting a Chef make-over! The official word is...

Gay resort destination Fire Island Pines is proud to announce their new Executive Chef at the Blue Whale restaurant: Greg Torrech. Chef Torrech has been wowing Manhattan diners for years and now brings his talents and imaginative dishes to the Pines.

Greg began his career working at the Ritz Carlton in West Palm Beach, Florida. His New York experience began when he served as sous chef at the extraordinary Nolita restaurant La Esquina and the acclaimed east side restaurant Resto, working with Chef Ryan Skeen. He also worked over the years at Irving Mill, General Greene, and Allen & Delancey. After Allen & Delancey, he took on the role of chef at Brown Café on the Lower East Side.

Greg's style is progressive, seasonal American, with a twist on classic dishes. He has already started to put his stamp on the Blue Whale menu with two light seafood dishes: Olive Oil Poached Cod with grapes, fennel and orange, and Whole Roasted Florida Red Snapper with cucumber-onion yogurt salad.

Greg's arrival marks a new milestone in the growing quality of the Blue Whale kitchen over the past two years. Call 631-597-6216 or visit opentable.com to make a reservation today.

A Gourmet Safety Message...Delivered Frankly!™

So here I am munching on some brisket, mac & cheese and collard greens from one of my favorite places Peter's Since 1969. (P.S. They now have Brisket & Turkey permanently on their menu..ooo and the most delicious soups & homemade croutons as well!!) Click the pink link to go to their site! I digress...

So here I am enjoying my take out and in to my blogosphere storms Frank very concerned about my Eat Me Out! Segment. (Once again click the pink link to catch yourself up) Granted he's a little behind on my blog times...but he makes a point and I was so moved that I myself had to video respond!

Watch On!!
